The movie Troy did a good job at potraying the epic, however some differences were present. For example, the Iliad defines the outcome as fait astablished by the gods. In the movie it is because on the Greeks strong fighting and quick thinking. The movie removes the influence of the gods to make the movie more underatandable to todays audience and to make it easier to follow. Another example is how the Iliad concludes with Achilles resolving his anger and Troy goes on to the Trojan horse and the distruction of Troy. The film makers probubly did this to fill in the gaps and make it have more of and epic ending.
